Getting worse isn't it?

Even the young English players are at it now, and still no retrospective bans being given out!

The leg out to get contact ala Vardy Kane and Alli is pathetic, the thing is when it goes against their teams they are moaning about the other player! How about everyone stops cheating and plays the game the right way. Refs don't stand a chance these days

Re: Diving
For a penalty situation (game changer) where the ball is dead you can use the VAR. Issue a yellow card for the game if dived, followed by a 3 match ban for deceiving the referee.
Any other place on the park can be done retrospectively and ban applied.

As punters we want to see 11 v 11 you pay your money and want to see a competitive game. So the first doesnt impact the game but the subsequent ban puts then at a disadvantage for the next 3.

It's like watching a pantomime these days. I used to think WWF was bad.

Re: Diving
People always mention someone who was diving years ago, but it was few and far between and the odd incident, not 9 players out of a whole team and diving everywhere at every opportunity.

It's literally embarrassing and when I see people like noble do it, it fucks me off.

Main reason I stopped going and watching so much football, as it was nothing to do with the game.

Video refs are the only way to stop the cheating.

Remember someone diving against my football team about 20 years ago over Goodmayes Extension.

About 3 mins later, our centre half hit him so hard in a tackle, that he was on the floor moving like a caterpillar uncontrollably.

Was fucking brilliant as he was helped off of the pitch the cheating cunt

Re: Diving
Only reason for diving is to avoid a bad challenge, video ref in stand could view without stopping play, then radio referee once judged cheating. Punishment should be 10 minutes in a sin bin situated directly in front of opposition supporters.

Would work except at OS where abuse wouldn't be as effective from 200 ft away.

At least the sight lines are good

Re: Diving
Of course this is all hypothetical as the pundits love controversy, they speak more about that than the game which generates them cash so the governing body don't give a monkeys.

Re: Diving
I'm not sure whether this would work, but if the ref truly feels somebody has dived, dish out a straight red.

Would mean they also get suspended for the next game.

Could make players think twice and cut it out completely as they wouldn't necessarily take the risk.

Refs need to start giving pens to the players that stay on their feet first though. Set an example and players won't dive as much.

Rodney Marsh said he used to practice clicking his ankles together to trip himself up in the area.

That git, Francis Lee, was doing it years ago.

Lee isn't, in this instance, a Chinese name, despite his nickname, "Lee Won Pen".

Sven Roeder 8:57 Tue May 2
Re: Diving
It's because refs don't give a pen if you don't go down
Sky showed Coutinho v Palace. Got kicked and was knocked off balance but tried to stay on his feet. No pen given

Kane had his shin kicked and it was a pen but his instinct was to throw his leg into the defender to get more contact and throw himself down.
You need video refs in most cases to weed out where the forward initiate contact. Like Sane v Boro and every pen Vardy has ever won in his life

Re: Diving
It drives me mad that it seems to be accepted that any slight touch in the box is a penalty and that players are encouraged to go down. The Kane penalty was a good example although a stupid challenge for the defender to make.

Re: Diving
Video refs
The review of Rashford's pen should see a free kick to Swansea and a red card for Rashford.
Would disappear in weeks
If it doesn't chuck in a penalty for the other team as well

"Even the young English players are at it now"

Really and Gary Lineker and Michael Owen weren't two of the most adept and productive divers in International football.
And we all remember what plan b was for Liverpool over the years when they needed a goal, Gerrard would drive forward, burst into the box and fall over someone's legs for a totally unwarranted penalty.

Bad news chaps, the British have been at it for years
